Integrating practices, tools and systems for climate risk assessment and management and strategies for disaster risk reduction into national policies and programmes

The Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has reaffirmed that many climate risks will be exacerbated by climate change and that disaster risk reduction is an important element of adaptation planning. This paper, prepared in the context of the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, outlines the needs, practices, tools and systems for advancing the integration of adaptation and disaster risk reduction into
national policies and programmes.
