BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA

Legal & Institutional Framework

The current legislation at State level is based on a set of laws defining the roles and the competences of all the administrative levels involved in Protection and Rescue. In terms of legislation, entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic of Srpska, have their own laws on protection and rescue and exercise a degree of autonomy from the State under which they have full independence when it comes to operational matters, and must be considered as separate units, but are under the mandate of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina in matters including strategic planning, coordination and international cooperation.
